King receives Lebanese PM

Amman, Jan. 9 (JIB) - His Majesty King Abdullah II said that the plan adopted by the Arab League to solve the Lebanese issue and overcome the consequences of the political crisis is a step in the right direction. King added, during a meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora that committing to implement the plan paves the way to end the crisis in Lebanon. Earlier, Arab foreign ministers agreed in their meeting in Cairo upon a three-phase plan to solve the crisis, including electing a president for Lebanon, forming a government and endorse a new elections law. King pledged support for the Lebanese government and institutions and efforts exerted to preserve the unity of Lebanese people, hailing the role of Siniora in protecting the unity of Lebanon. King Abdullah noted that the dialogue amongst all parties in Lebanon is the best way to overcome conflicts and enhance the national unity as well as preserving the sovereignty of Lebanon. For his part, Siniora briefed King Abdullah on the latest developments and movements on the Lebanese arena, as well as efforts being exerted by reach a settlement regarding the electing a new president according to the Arab plan.
