King Speaks to Petra News Agency

Amman, July 1, (JIB) His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that "public policy will never be held hostage to rumours and ignorance. “Using blatant lies and childish rumours that obstructs our progress is not fair play and is unacceptable, the King said in an interview with Jordan News Agency. "I myself, just like what my father King Hussein had done before me, have worked extremely hard to promote Jordan as an investment destination," the King said. "I have a vision for the future: I want Jordan to be the most prosperous country in the world; I want it to be open to the world and unafraid," His Majesty said in the interview conducted by the agency's Director-General Ramadan Rawashdeh. The King made it clear that investment should not come at the expense of transparency. In words addressed to the present government, the King said "My message to this government is that you have challenges that have not been faced by previous governments, at the same time opportunities exist like never before. " Listen to professionals and experts and ignore rumours and gossip, And always communicate clearly and transparently with our people," the King added expressing his pride in Jordan's achievements over the years.. To deny these achievements is a crime to all hardworking people, he said In reply to a question, King Abdullah said "criticism of government policies in tough times and using it to further a certain group’s agenda is fair play and happens all over the world. If there is anyone who has any proof of any intentional wrong-doing, please stand up and let it be known; our door is open." the King said.
